Meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Teimuraz Lezhava held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Mr. Hisayuki Fujii.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. He emphasized the need to strengthen the existing friendly relations between the countries and the need to further deepen relations in various directions, including deepening trade and economic ties, the possibility of concluding a free trade agreement, deepening people-to-people ties, etc.
The conversation touched upon Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and the challenges facing the country. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan recalled his visit to the occupation line and noted that, given the ongoing events in the region, he understands well the complexity of the situation around Georgia.
The parties agreed to continue working towards further strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries.
