President Zourabichvili Ends Japan Working Visit with Meeting with Prime Minister Shinzō Abe
President Salome Zourabichvili met with Shinzō Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and discussed ways on increasing the bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Japan.
President Zourabichvili briefed the Japanese Prime Minister on the current situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, including the “borderization” process, human rights violations, and the grave humanitarian situation. The President thanked Mr. Abe for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. President Zourabichvili invited Prime Minister Abe to Georgia. Their discussion was also focused on the bilateral investment agreement, emphasizing the importance of rapidly concluding it to increase Japanese companies’ interest on the Georgian market. The sides also touched upon cooperation in culture and sports, particularly on the preparatory works for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The President also congratulated the Prime Minister on the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito.
