On March 29, 2017 the Ambassador of Georgia, Dr. Levan Tsintsadze held a meeting with Mayor of Niseko, Mr. Kenya Katayama. Niseko is one of the most popular mountain resort in Japan.

On March 22, 2017 the Japanese Foreign Ministry hosted a fifth round of bilateral political consultations between the Georgian and Japanese Foreign Ministries. The Georgian delegation was led by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Davit Jalaghania; the Japanese delegation was headed the Deputy Director General of the Europpean Affairs Bureau, Mr. Toshihiro Aiki.

27.03.2017, Tbilisi – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its deep sorrow over the death and injury of children when an avalanche struck a Japanese ski resort in Nasu District  (Tochigi Prefecture) of Japan on 27 March 2017.

24.03.2017 - The UN Human Rights Council adopted the Resolution on Cooperation with Georgia at its 34th session held on 24 March 2017. The Resolution initiated by Georgia was co-sponsored by 43 states.

On March 13, 2017 the Ambassador of Georgia, Dr. Levan Tsintsadze visited Yamanashi prefecture and held a meeting with Mayor of Koshu, Mr. Atsushi Tanabe. Koshu is one of the main wine and agriculture producing cities of Japan.

On 12 March 2017, the so-called parliamentary elections are being held in occupied Abkhazia region of Georgia. This act represents yet another attempt of legitimization of consequences of several waves of ethnic cleansing, military invasion, occupation and lasting aggression by Russia against the Georgian statehood. Hence, according to the international law, any so-called elections or referendum in the occupied territories of Georgia are illegal and cannot have any legal effect.

Georgia participated in the International Food and Beverage Exhibition FOODEX JAPAN 2017, taking place in Tokyo during March 7-10. Enterprise Georgia and National Wine Agency in cooperation with the Embassy of Georgia organized a booth for Georgian wine, food and beverages producing companies. In total 12 companies introduced their product on exhibition.

10.02.2017, Washington – Georgia remains America’s strong partner and ally not only in the region but also globally – Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said during his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson held on 10 February 2017, as part of Mikheil Janelidze’s visit to the U.S.
