Georgia - Europe Started Here

On May 15 “The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI)” held a reception on the occasion of Annual General Assembly for 2017. The event was attended by the representatives of Japanese corporations and Diplomatic Missions accredited in Japan. Mr. Toru Shiraishi, President of “The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI)”, Mr. Shinsuke Suematsu, State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan and Dr. Levan Tsintsadze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan delivered welcome speeches for the distinguished guests.

On April 29, 2017, the Government of Japan announced the recipients of the 2017 Spring Imperial Decorations. Ms. Nina Ananiashvili is awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in recognition for her significant contribution to promote cultural exchange between Japan and Georgia as well as the developing Japanese ballet society.

6.05.2017 - ​A passage on the occupation of Georgian territories was for the first time added to the U.S. spending bill - Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017. The Congress passed the Act on 5 May. The document was enacted after being signed by the President on 6 May.

In april 2017, within the 25th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Japan, was published a book "Georgian Qvevri Wine" by Natsu Shimamura, Yasuko Goda and Yutaka Kitajima.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and its EU-funded project “Enhancing Georgia’s Migration Management (ENIGMMA)” continues joint implementation of the Georgian High-Profile Diaspora Engagement Programme. The main aim of the Programme is to engage high-profile diaspora in the development processes of Georgia. The target audience consists of Georgians who have achieved professional success in destination countries and have supported to the popularisation of Georgia’s positive image abroad.

Georgia participated in the International Exhibition "Wine and Gourmet Japan 2017", taking place in Tokyo during April 12-14. National Wine Agency in cooperation with the Embassy of Georgia organized a booth for Georgian wine.

 On April 13, 2017 Embassy of Georgia participated the "Wine Warms Friendship - Discovering Irresistible Wines from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Tunisia" reception which was organized with initiative of H.E. Mr. Motome Takisawa, Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. 

Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Mr. Motome Takisawa and the Ambassadors delievered speeches for distinguished guests.
