4.07.2017 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its deep concern over the illegal installation of a so-called border sign across the occupation line in the Tskhinvali region, in the area of Bershueti village, Gori district, as a result of which several local farmers’ agricultural lands have now partially fallen beyond the occupation line.

28.06.2017, Tbilisi -  As part of the celebration of the 25thanniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Japan, Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa paid a visit to Georgia from 26 to 28 June.

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Georgia, 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Georgia and Japan and Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, H.E. Mr. Mikheil Janelidze to Japan official reception was organized by the Embassy of Georgia to Japan on June 1, 2017 at the Hotel “Imperial” (Tokyo).

On May 23, 2017 at „Keio Plaza Hotel” was held Georgian Wine evening supported by the Embassy of Georgia to Japan. During the event exhibition of handicrafts and photo display “Spectacular Georgia” were also available for the guests. President of „Keio Plaza Hotel”, Mr. Mamoru Yamamoto, representatives of various spheres and wine lovers attended an event.

After a successful Georgian Qvevri Wine and Japanese Cuisine pairing event which was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan and Embassy of Georgia to Japan and held during "Expo Milano 2015" the interest in pairing the abovementioned has been increased. Since "Expo Milano 2015" were held several pairing receptions and seminars.

On May 15 “The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI)” held a reception on the occasion of Annual General Assembly for 2017. The event was attended by the representatives of Japanese corporations and Diplomatic Missions accredited in Japan. Mr. Toru Shiraishi, President of “The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI)”, Mr. Shinsuke Suematsu, State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan and Dr. Levan Tsintsadze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan delivered welcome speeches for the distinguished guests.

On April 29, 2017, the Government of Japan announced the recipients of the 2017 Spring Imperial Decorations. Ms. Nina Ananiashvili is awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, in recognition for her significant contribution to promote cultural exchange between Japan and Georgia as well as the developing Japanese ballet society.

6.05.2017 - ​A passage on the occupation of Georgian territories was for the first time added to the U.S. spending bill - Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017. The Congress passed the Act on 5 May. The document was enacted after being signed by the President on 6 May.
