Ambassador`s welcome speech

Welcome to the official web-page of the Embassy of Georgia!

It is my honor and great responsibility to be an Ambassador of Georgia to Japan and contribute to strengthening and enhancing the existing friendly relations between two countries.

Government of Georgia attaches high importance to deepening political and economic cooperation with Japan, as well as fostering relations in the field of science and culture. Strong and unequivocal support of the Japanese government towards Georgia&rsquo s sovereignty and territorial integrity, valuable cooperation on multilateral dimension, the consensus regarding the global issues on international level and the positive dynamic of developing bilateral partnership makes our cooperation even more solid and fruitful.

I would like to underline the intention of Georgian government to facilitate increase of Japanese investments in Georgia. During recent years Georgia is listed in top ten countries of &ldquo Ease of Doing Business&rdquo rating issued by the World Bank. I would like to express confidence that mentioned top position, also economic reforms implemented by the government of Georgia and signing of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with EU in the nearest future will create additional incentives to induce interest of Japanese investors in Georgia&rsquo s favorable business environment. I would like to use this opportunity and express my sincere gratitude to the Government of Japan for the Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects extended to Georgia, which contributed to the country&rsquo s economic development and improvement of living standards for the citizens of Georgia.

Georgia located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia was historically part of the ancient Silk Road. The transcontinental trade route, connecting Asia with Mediterranean region, provided a base of East-West cultural exchange and created unique characteristics of my country. Like Japan Georgia is a place of antique history and traditions. With a sense of satisfaction I would like to note growing number of Japanese tourists coming to Georgia and hope for more opportunities to introduce Georgian culture, hospitality and cuisine to the Japanese visitors.

Before starting the diplomatic mission I was fortunate to live in Japan and conduct activities in science field. I do hope that my personal experience of getting acquainted with the Japanese traditions and customs will positively affect my efforts to intensify people-to-people contacts between Georgia and Japan.

I will be extremely glad if my term of being Ambassador can modestly contribute to the promotion of Georgia-Japan ties.

With Best Wishes,

Levan Tsintsadze

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan
