President Salome Zourabichvili met with Takehide Harada, Director of the Iwanami Hall cinema of Tokyo, and General Manager Ritsuko Iwanami.
The President highlighted the importance of promoting Georgian cinematography in Japan. The President also toured the hall dedicated to Georgian movies. Iwanami Hall is one of the most prestigious movie theatres in Japan, where Giorgi Shengelia’s “Pirosmani” was shown in the fall of 1978. A Georgian film festival was held at Iwanami Hall last year. In 2018, Takehide Harada published a book on Georgian cinema and theater. A few months later, a collection of poems and stories written by Vazha Pshavela was published, with Mr. Harada’s illustrations and Yashuhiro Kojima’s translation.
