President Salome Zourabichvili met with Akiko Santō, President of the House of Councillors of Japan, and Vice-President Toshio Ogawa.
The sides discussed parliamentary cooperation and the development of bilateral relations in politics, culture, and trade between Georgia and Japan. President Zourabichvili briefed the members of the House of Councillors on the ongoing situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. Mrs. Santō pointed out that Japan supports Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Georgia’s role as an economic hub was also highlighted, as well as the possibility of launching direct flights between Georgia and Japan.
